The refill costs more than the wax

Wax you're waiting on is a Brazilian you're not doing.

Tip cold beads into a hot pot and the temperature drops. You wait for it to come back up, then you wait again while the consistency settles. That happens mid-service, on the days you booked back to back.

Move up a size and the math changes. Five and a half pounds sitting melted from the time you prep, or ten. You top up less often, so you spend less of your day standing over the pot.

Volume changes behaviour too. One pound at 65°C is not the same consistency as five pounds at 65°C. More wax in the pot means less swing while you work from it, and less time bringing it back.

Both pots heat through the walls, all the way around, instead of off a plate underneath. A full pot comes up evenly and you get to use all of it.

You already know where yours sits. The pot's job is to let you put it there.

The 5lb dial is marked in degrees, up to 120°C. You're setting a temperature, not a position on a knob.

The 10lb shows the pot's real temperature on a digital readout, so you can see it move as the level drops.
